"Canoe at the Lake"

... Sunset color casts a glow
of gold and bronze
onto the trees ringing this pretty
high mountain lake.
The green canoe is just waiting
for someone to push off
into that gorgeous reflective water!
Captured in the Spring,
the wildflowers are blooming
all over the forest,
part of the Cherokee National Forest
of Tennessee.
This is the Chilhowee Recreation area
between the towns
of Ducktown and Benton
just west of the North Carolina border.
Near the Ocoee Whitewater center,
the preserve is above Parksville Lake.
There are many trails
to hike or cycle and the trail
leading to the Benton Waterfall
begins right next to this lake.
The trail is easy and really gives
a great reward after just a little over a mile
to the falls. Many folks camp
in this area
and enjoy swimming
and canoeing in the lake.
